Banned Books

I told you guys I'd put my list of banned books on here so here it is!

Standing Up

I recently skimmed over the list of banned books. Many of which I recognized. Some even books I grew up with and hold dear in my heart. I know someone who may read this may take it as a political comment. It is not. I am simply talking about our rights. These books were written by creative people, who spent a lot of time, effort, and creativity. I personally believe books should not be banned. Especially for reasons like: 'differ from mainstream Christianity', 'Banned for perceived "encouragement of silliness"', 'Holocaust themes', 'Sex education', or 'abuse'. Those aren't even the beginning to the millions of reasons for a book to be banned. I thought I knew about banned books before in the previous episodes I did about them, but now I am realizing, I know nothing. I didn't have the slightest understanding of banned or challenged books. But now I am motivated to learn all I can about the subject. And not only will I personally learn all I can, but I WILL be teaching everyone I can about it. If you want to help or contribute in any way, Pen America is a great place to do that.

Writer's Block

Welcome! If you are a writer like me, you have most likely faced something called 'Writer's Block'. And it is the bane of every writer's existence. And if you're like me, you have called on google to be your savior in this horrible time. (PSA: Don't. It's pretty unhelpful)

So I've compiled a list of do's and don'ts for when you're struggling.

Do:

  1. Write from a different perspective.

  2. Change up your scenery.

  3. Take a short break and watch a comfort show or movie [Mine is Tangled:)]

  4. Work on a different project.

  5. Do character art.

  6. Read<3

  7. Work on a different scene!

  8. Try going back and seeing about changing a decision that may change the story. This is completely okay!

Don't:

  1. Give up.

  2. Start over.

  3. Doom scroll.

  4. Trash what you've written.
